| "Demenet" is a
multinational project that explores the feasibility of telework and related solutions for
farmers and rural people in pilot project areas of Finland, Austria, UK, Lapland, and
Spain. Empirica is a consulting and research firm that has extensive European experience in the telework field, including various publications and research reports. Its site (in German) also includes a thorough list of telework links for Europe and elsewhere. European Community Telework Forum (ECTF) Online- The ECTF "promotes teleworking and the exchange and dissemination of information between telework projects and organisations interested in telework." The Europe Telework Week series of events, which began in 1995, is described on their website. European Telework Award Winners for 1997 are listed on this site, including the five winners' presentations. European Telework Online is the "European and International focal point for information, news and discussion on telework, teletrade and telecooperation." It is sponsored by the EC, and is an excellent overview site for European telework activity. This site also includes an excellent report titled "Telework and People with Disabilities". Also, Maarten Botterman is an excellent resource for information about telework-related activities within the EC. The EC's 1998 status report on European telework, titled "Telework 1998 - Annual Report from the European Commission" is available for download in several formats. Also, the report on the "European Telework Information Day" held on May 28, 1998 is now available. Information Market Europe is an interactive service of the European Commission providing the latest EU information on European markets for multimedia content and electronic information services. The Information Society Project Office of the EC "aims to promote co-operation and development in the various areas of the Information Society" across Europe. MIRTI (Models of Industrial Relations in Telework Innovation) is a project supported by the EU. It is a comprehensive collection of telework agreements, guidelines, implementation tips, and much more. Noel Hodson (of SW2000 Teleworking Studies) offers his "21st Century Fiscal & Work Systems for the Information Society" site which contains information and statistics about telework in Europe and elsewhere, as well as several provocative sections on welfare reform, including his "Birthright" concept. "Small Business Networking" is a report of European Union research on the topics of Telematics, EDI and Telework. Its purpose was to disseminate and discuss the results of the SBN project examining how small businesses use telematics. TEBELA is a project "designed to support research activities by encouraging the development of networks and links between Europe and Latin America in connection with teleworking (including electronic commerce, innovative applications of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), sustainable development and the Information Society generally). These networks will support researchers and teleworkers, providing a common forum involving government, employers and individuals." The UK-based telework association TCA and the Institute for Employment Studies have set up an Internet-based questionnaire to look at call centre manager attitudes about the use of technologies to disperse inbound calls from a call center to home-based agents. Call center managers and others interested in the field are invited to participate in this research. W.I.S.E. is the Work, Information Society and Employment forum which has emerged from the EC's DIPLOMAT project (the European Telework Charter). Among its objectives are to "provide an informed, neutral environment for people concerned with employment, including national, regional and local government, trade unions, employers, trade associations and social partners, to debate work and employment aspects of the Information Society," and "be international; inviting research, contributions and participation from people and organisations throughout the world, reflecting the importance of global and trans-border aspects of telework and tele-business." |
